Akoio Case Study: Building a Brand for Investor Readiness

Startup Brand Package & Founder Mentorship

An Embedded Partnership with ACV Consulting  |  2023

Published: September 30th, 2026.

This Akoio case study explores how ACV Consulting used startup brand strategy to help an early-stage wellness company build its identity, investor narrative, and foundational assets for pre-seed fundraising.

The Challenge

Akoio arrived at ACV in 2023 as a concept with real energy: a first-of-its-kind consumer wellness brand addressing the harmful effects of excessive noise on health and wellbeing. The vision was clear. The concept addressed a documented health concern with potential for a new consumer wellness category. And the founding team had the conviction to build something meaningful.

What they did not yet have was any of the brand infrastructure required to communicate that vision to investors. No documented Brand DNA. No visual identity. No website. And no investor deck ready to launch a pre-seed funding round. The challenge was translating an authentic conviction into a narrative that outside audiences could understand, believe in, and act on.

For an early-stage company, the investor deck is not a document. It is a distillation of the brand's entire reason for existing —and building it well requires doing the startup brand strategy work first.

Akoio concept positioning auditory health alongside established wellness categories including fitness sleep and nutrition.

The Solution: Startup Brand Strategy and Investor Readiness

ACV Consulting came in at multiple levels simultaneously. Christopher Peak served as Akoio's interim CEO, providing executive leadership structure during the funding preparation phase. Aaron Carpenter served as interim CMO, bringing the brand and marketing perspective that shaped how the story was positioned. ACV led the project management of the investor deck build, coordinating between the founding team and the ACV creative bench.

The startup brand strategy work moved through three phases:

  • Discovery — Documenting the brand's identity and producing a concrete action plan with scope, timeline, and cost.

  • Brand Development — Exploring and refining visual direction, messaging, and the website.

  • Asset Production — Developing social content, digital ad frameworks, and an influencer and artist syndication brief.

The Results

The engagement delivered:

  • A discovery-phase action plan with brand identity, creative direction, and full scope, timeline, and budget.

  • A comprehensive investor deck capturing Akoio's market opportunity, solution ecosystem, and funding thesis.

  • A market framing connecting Akoio's offering to public health research from the WHO, NIH, and EPA.

  • Interim CEO and CMO leadership through Christopher Peak and Aaron Carpenter during the funding preparation phase.

  • A cataloged asset library for ongoing investor outreach.

Key Insight

For a category-creating company, startup brand strategy and narrative work done in the first months of existence shape how investors see the brand, how media covers it, and how customers eventually find it. Getting it right early is not a luxury —it can shape whether everything that follows lands clearly or misses the mark.

The most important thing a founding team can do before an investor meeting is make sure they can tell their own story as clearly as their best advisor can tell it for them.
